Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions we get.

What are your prices and payment options?

  • Chicken Eggs are $5.00 per dozen or $2.50 per half-dozen.
  • Goose Eggs are $1 each and available seasonally from March through May.
  • We may occasionally offer sale prices
  • We accept Cash or Venmo.

Should I wash eggs before using them?

  • Yes. Wash right before using. Even if the shell looks clean, bacteria and dirt can still be on the surface.
  • To prevent transferring contaminants into your food, gently rinse the egg under warm running water right before you crack it.

Can I get a dozen eggs of one color?

  • We can’t guarantee specific colors, but we’re happy to include a mix or lean toward your preference when possible.

Should I return egg cartons?

  • Yes please. Clean, undamaged cartons are welcome and reused when possible.

What is the purpose of adding a label to cartons?

  • We add a label to our cartons to indicate the date it was packed and placed in refrigeration.
  • New York State requires this safe handling statement on cartons: “To prevent illness from bacteria: keep eggs refrigerated, cook eggs until yolks are firm, and cook foods containing eggs thoroughly.”

How do I pick up my eggs?

  • Check today’s availability at the top of the page.
  • Swing by our honor-stand located at the end of our driveway, open daily 8am until dusk.
  • If the green "Available" sign is out, eggs are in the cooler.
  • Please flip the sign to the red "Sold Out" if you take the last carton.​

How long can I store the eggs?

  • Unwashed eggs stay fresh for two weeks on the counter or up to three months in the refrigerator.
  • For the best quality, we recommend refrigerating them in their carton with the pointy end facing down.

Do you sell fertilized eggs?

  • If the hens and rooster are active (ahem), some eggs may be fertilized. They are perfectly safe to eat and no different in taste or texture.

Do you sell chicks or hatching eggs?

  • See above. We do not sell chicks, but we have an incubator and are happy to consider if there is interest. Our eggs are most likely fertilized so could be hatched if you choose to try.
